engine stalling

ive got a mk5 efi auto it runs fine but every time I put it in drive it stalls until its been running for about 30 mins then its o.k. any ideas?

hi and welcome.
I'd be changing the plugs and possibly the leads as a starting point then go from there. is yours a cvh or zetec ? I don't know about the zetec but if it's cvh it could have the unmodified iscv fitted these can give problems at all times and more so when the engines cold. that said if it's a cvh I would think that by the time the mk5 were out the early iscv would have been ditched in favour of the hittachi unit these are easily sorted with a good clean out.

sounds more like a transmission problem to me, when was the last time the fluid was changed?
