Help please Empty Help please

Wonder if anyone can help i have escort mk 3 cab running turbo engine .
When car is idling if the heater is switch on for some reason engine cuts out.
Also temp gauge runs upto high also when idling was thinking is this a temp
control switch
Had new head gasket and skimmed.

did this problem occure after you changed the head gasket or was it there before?

Ive asked the previous owner whom says it was always running hot.. he installed a manual switch to turn the fan on when stood in traffic

There is an easy fix for the hot running providing it doesn't have any real cooling issues ie if the pump is fine and head all ok etc. You need to fit a replacement fan switch that cuts it at a lower temperature and off at a higher temperature. I'll find the details of the switch and post it later.

Just re read your original post. This switch won't cure your cutting out when you turn the heater on but will sort the running hot in traffic problem out. The cutting out problem sounds like you have some shorting out issues.

Thanks yes I agree ..... I can hear something ticking behind the dash or lower down poss near the pedals it sounds like the indicator is on but not
The cab has a series 1 turbo running gear been told they do run hot ...but surely not into the red

check with the original owner what thermostat he has fit should have a 82 deg one in to help it run cooler and this link may be what Mick was talking about

Yep that's the one you get get the switch cheaper from your local factors or spares shop if you know the part numbers. I have the numbers thanks to shaun (gartrac) but they are on my old laptop and it's not playing ball.

Also as u are in the know im looking for a series 1 turbo fuel pump relay 6 pin ..... this was the problem with the ticking mentioned earlier
